The state BJP plans to enter the electronic media by
launching its own Telugu TV channel in the name of Orange TV to
popularise its ideology by utilising cable network.
The
facility, costing Rs 25 lakh, will come up at the party’s four-storeyed
state office building at Nampally in the city and will be ready in six
months. This was disclosed by BJP state president G Kishan Reddy here on
Friday.
“The channel will provide a platform to
people to debate the party’s political ideology and promote value-based
politics in society,” Reddy said and added that he would discuss his
plans with others at party meetings.
According to the party, the CPM is starting its own TV channel, Red TV, and so are some other left parties.
The
state leadership of the saffron party is under tremendous pressure from
the cadre for the party to start a TV channel to counter left parties’
political criticism.
The BJP and more than 60
organisations which are working in different fields but are
ideologically aligned with it think a TV channel of their own will help
all these organisations send messages and thoughts directly to their
viewers and may even consolidate and improve their vote bank.
The
party state president will be on a three-day Satyagraha at Jantar
Mantar in New Delhi from September 3 to 5 to force the Centre to
de-merge the former Hyderabad state region from the present unified
state of Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking at a
meet-the-press organised by the Telangana Journalists’ Union (TJU) here
on Friday, Reddy declared that they would target the central government
and the Congress on the Telangana issue.
He blamed
the Congress and TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu for the 850 suicides
committee by youths all over Telangana for a separate state.
